Kausani is a mesmerizing hill station located 53 km from Almora in Uttarakhand. There are several spots in the hill station, which offer commanding views of the Himalayan peaks like Trisul, Nanda Devi, Nandakot and Panchchuli. This hill station is one of the most beautiful destinations of Uttarakhand. Located at an altitude of 1890 m, Kausani is located amidst dense pine trees overlooking Someshwar valley on one side and Garur and Baijnath Katyuri valley on the other. The original name of Kausani was Valna and it is also the birth place of Sumitra Nandan Pant, the renowned poet of Hindi literature.

Anasakti Ashram
With the backdrop of the scenic Himalaya, the Anasakti Ashram is a beautiful place to sightsee. It was here that Mahatma Gandhi spent a few days of his life and has been converted into a memorial. The views from the Ashram are breathtakingly beautiful and the ambience is very peaceful.
Bageshwar
Regarded as the holy land associated with Lord Sadashiva, the township of Bageshwar is located at the confluence of rivers Saryu, Gomti and the latent Bhagirathi. With the Bhileshwar and Nileshwar mountains on its east and west respectively, Suraj Kund in the north and Agni kund in the west.
Baijnath Temple
Lying in the Katyuri valley, 19 km away from Kausani and 26 km from Bageshwar, is the ancient town of Baijnath. The temple holds significance because, according to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva and Parvati were married at the confluence of River Gomati and Garur Ganga.
Kausani Tea Estate
The rolling green tea gardens at Kausani are a pleasant place to spend a beautiful afternoon. The Kausani Tea Estate and Factory is spread over 208 acres and the Uttaranchal Tea is produced here. The whole hill side is covered with aromatic tea bushes and you can take a tour of the fragrant tea factory.
Lakshmi Ashram
The Sarla Ashram or Lakshmi Ashram is a panoramically located institute for education that was established in 1948 by Katherine Mary Heilemann. It was stated to educate the girls of Kausani. Katherine Mary Heilemann was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and ran a boarding school.
Patal Bhubaneshwar
Another exciting place to visit while on a visit to Kausani is Patal Bhubhaneshwara, just 100 km away. The sacred temple is aptly named as it takes 200 steps to visit the underground temple through a narrow tunnel. The ancient temple pulls an amazing number of tourists and locals every month.
Sumitranandan Pant Gallery
Located in the pristine ambience of Kausani, the birthplace of Sumitranandan Pant has been converted into a museum, popularly known as Sumitranandan Pant Gallery. Scenically located in verdant greenery, the beautiful museum is a worth a visit.
